A new project

When Rachel's parents came to Albany, they brought a dining table and chairs that belonged to her Grandparents Brockman. Grandma Brockman did the needlepoint on the worn-out seats. As nice as they are, they're decades old and needed updating. So Rachel took it upon herself to learn how to do it.

the family wall

One of our weekend projects was getting all our family photos up. They look great. Posted by Picasa

How can you tell that Ben's really a student?

He's got a desk. And it's one so big (and his study is so small) that the camera can't capture it in one shot. It's a very cool, very large, parson's desk that just barely fits in the room. He spent most of last night sitting at it, studying Abnormal Psychology. Posted by Picasa

Roxie has discovered squirrels

Our faithful dog

Annie doesn't like the basement stairs, but she also doesn't like to be any farther away from us than she needs to be. This is her usual spot when we're working in the basement. Posted by Picasa

109 Winnie Street

One of those things we've been meaning to do since we moved in is put house numbers on the front. We finally did it this weekend. Posted by Picasa

a boy and his basement

We started a new project last weekend. We didn't know what to do with the hallway and we didn't have any place to put our bookshelves. So, we decided to make bookshelves to put in our hallway. Watch the progression . . . Posted by Picasa

Annie and Roxie

This is how it is for us when we sit down. If you look closely at Annie's muzzle, you can see that she's been helping us paint. Posted by Picasa

blast from Rachel's past

Ellen says that this is the exact moment Rachel decided to hate nylons for the rest of her life. Posted by Picasa

the living room

we haven't stripped the wallpaper and painted yet, but we decided it was time to make it look like home, anyway. Stay tuned in the next few weeks for a change in wall color. Posted by Picasa

Roxie's here!

Our cat arrived on Thursday afternoon. Thank you to Matt and Jamie in San Diego for taking care of her for the last couple of months. She's not as freaked out as she was when she first arrived, but you might be able to tell that she's not entirely relaxed, either. Posted by Picasa

what happens when Ben starts using Super Glue

First, he glues his fingers together (of course).

Second, he decides that a KNIFE is the proper tool to separate them. Posted by Picasa

Corporal Kennedy!

Ben got promoted! He's got more respect at work and we've both got a little more money in the bank each month. What could be better. For those of you paying attention, those chevrons on his lapel are those of a Corporal, no longer a lowly Lance Corporal. Posted by Picasa

Shelving progress

We made huge leaps forward in the shelving project last night. There's still a lot to be done before they're "done" (finishing each shelf, adding molding to the top, putting doors on front), but they're usable! Posted by Picasa

Annie just loves to help out

She'll do anything to help with a home improvement project, from always being right underneath your feet to licking and fingers in range. Posted by Picasa
