Homecoming

The Marines from Ben's unit who have been in Iraq for the last 7 months returned to Albany last night. It was too dark to be taking pictures with our little digital camera, so these pictures don't really do the crowd justice. 63 Marines came home last night; there must have been 400 or so to welcome them back. This shows a small part of the crowd, including media cameras.

Here they are marching down the street from the headquarters building to where all the families were waiting about 1/4 mile away.

This shows a pretty good idea of the chaos as the Marines were allowed to greet their families. Families are in the foreground and Marines in the background.

We were all supposed to move inside to hear from the mayor and other importants, but nobody wanted to move. So, they said some words from the bullhorn and called it a night.

Daytrip up north

We took a drive up the Hudson on the weekend and had a lovely picnic in a park. Here's Ben with the most delicious combination we found -- Triscut, Brie, smoked Gouda and Granny Smith. Yumm

The Hudson River.
Our favorite walk -- in autumn

We've posted pictures of our favorite walk before, but it looks a lot different now than it did this summer. We're putting up lots of pictures for all of those who live in places without fall.

This equipment looks like it's been sitting by the side of the path since the Great Depression.

Remember when we were shocked that Sen was as big as Annie? She now routinely walks underneath him if he's in her way. And he's only getting bigger . . .

Sen is getting better at his sit-stay. At least as long as someone has a treat in hand.

Sunset comes earlier and earlier these days.

One of the very cool old buildings along our everyday walk.
